Windhorst set to return to MAC Center

ESPN NBA sports writer and Kent State alum Brian Windhorst is set to make an appearance at the MAC Center in Kent this Saturday for a Q & A session for all Blue and Gold Collective Gold or Blue status members. The men’s team will work out at 1:00pm and all members are invited to attend that session, and stay for the program with Windhorst.

It will be a busy weekend for Windhorst as he will appear tonight at Saint Vincent Saint Mary in Akron while doing his podcast The Hoop Collective live from his other alma mater. Windhorst will take his co-hosts Tim Bomtemps and Tim MacMahon on the road with him to take a trip down memory lane.

Later on Saturday night after he visits the MAC Center, the Akron Rubber Ducks will honor Windhorst with his own bobblehead giveaway.

For KSU, it marks the first major event for the Blue and Gold Collective of the season. The purpose of the collective is to help raise funds to keep the men’s basketball program near the top of the Mid-American Conference. Rob Senderoff is looking forward to seeing Windy in town Saturday.

“It’s great to have Brian back at Kent State, watching us practice and talking with our team on Saturday,” Senderoff said. “Brian is one of the preeminent voices covering the NBA and been a great supporter of our men’s basketball program for years. The fact that he is also helping our men’s basketball collective with his visit is an added bonus. I’m excited for our guys to meet with Brian and talk about his experience covering the NBA.”

The Blue and Gold collective has many exciting events coming up including an “Akron Eve” scouting report where fans get to meet with Senderoff and staff and go over the scouting report for the Zips, as well as several pre-season, postseason and postgame events where fans will get to mingle and meet with players and staff.

The access that Senderoff and the program are providing fans who contribute is tremendous, and unique to many other mid-major programs in the country.

The collective was founded two years by Kent State alum and business owner Mike Beder. A collective is a structure that allows people to support student-athletes’ NIL opportunities.
