The Kent State men’s basketball program hosted over 25 high school student-athletes and their families this past weekend on campus. The visit included viewing an open practice at the MAC Center of the 2024-2025 Flashes, a tour of campus and the facilities, and it culminated in attending the Homecoming football game with Eastern Michigan.
Isaiah Theodile is a 6-8, 220 pound class of 2026 big from Kalamazoo Central High School in Michigan and was in Kent this past weekend. Theodile has offers from Detroit, IU Indy, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan. “The coaches and the staff were very nice and welcoming when I arrived,” he shared. The warm up sessions and drills were nice. The different plays were nice and competitive. The players were on point with defense and offense. I enjoyed the tour and the picture session. It was nice to see that players have access to the practice gym 24/7. Players can do recovery sessions and the warm to cold water sessions. The overall visit was great, well organized and very enjoyable.”
Joshua Tyson is a class of 2027, 6-2 point guard from Lakota West High School and received an offer from Kent State on August 4. Tyson was joined by his high school teammate Bryce Curry, a 6-4 combo guard and also a class of 2027 prospect. Tyson remarked on his visit to KSU. “I love the vibe. It was homecoming week so the game was decently packed. Practice was just as I expected it to be, very high pace.”
Class of 2025 big man Keashawn Jordan was also in attendance. Jordan, from Louisville, Kentucky has offers from Missouri State, Alabama State and is hearing from several other schools. “Amazing program and it’s clear why they consistently reach the championship in their conference. Everyone, from coaches to players, has a deep bond that feels like family,” he said of the Kent State experience.
Brandon Martin Jr. was also in attendance. He is a class of 2027 guard from Greensburg Central in Pennsylvania. Martin is a 6-5 combo guard with tons of potential. “The first thing you notice there is intensity. It’s insane,” Martin said of his KSU visit.
Kendyll Compton was also on campus. Compton is a 6-5 wing who plays at Elyria High School after transferring from Lutheran West.
Landen Ellis is a 6-4, class of 2027 guard from nearby Nordonia High School. Nordonia is coached by Darin Ford, oldest son of former Kent State and current Stony Brook Head Coach Geno Ford.
The 2024-2025 Flashes continue preparations for an opener at Louisiana as part of the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge on November 4.
