The Kent State men’s basketball team was picked to finish third in the Mid-American Conference Tuesday, as the conference released their preseason poll.
Additionally, senior forward VonCameron Davis was picked to be on the first team, while Jalen Sullinger was picked to be on the second team.
Head Coach Rob Senderoff said that the plan is for Sullinger to redshirt in 2024-2025 back in August. But, along with any other walk-on or redshirt, that he could compete at any time this season if different situations come up during the season whether it’s injuries, etc.
Davis is poised to have a huge senior season after going into the transfer portal after the season and returning to Kent a week later. He’s an example to other players in the program and a billboard for development and improvement, after playing sparingly his freshman year.
Ohio was picked to win the regular season, with Akron finishing second, KSU third and Toledo fourth.
Ohio received eight votes to win the tournament, while the Golden Flashes received three votes to cut down nets in Cleveland on March 15.
After a competitive scrimmage last weekend at Northern Kentucky, preparations continue for the season opener at Louisiana on November 4 as part of the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge.
The team will hold an open practice this Sunday, October 27 at 5:00pm for all Blue and Gold Collective members. Fans are asked join by calling 330-815-0747 or emailing at blueandgoldcollective@gmail.com to become a member today.
