The Kent State women’s basketball program received a verbal commitment Monday from Anna Campanelli, a class of 2025, 5-10 wing from Huntley High School in Huntley, Illinois.
Campanelli received an offer from Todd Starkey and the Golden Flashes back on April 25 and took an unofficial visit to Kent last weekend.
She reportedly had offers from Buffalo, Saint Louis, Tulsa and Wright State, among several others.
“I’m excited to annouce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Kent State University,” Campanelli announced via the social media platform X. “I am so thankful for the opportunity given by Coach Starkey and his staff and excited to begin my next chapter. Go Flashes!”
“I chose Kent State because of the coaches and players felt like home when I visited,” Campanelli said. “They were also super successful and I knew I wanted to play at a highly competitive school.”
Kent State, with the momentum of an NCAA trip last March, lands a big wing that was a very highly coveted recruit all over the midwest in leagues such as the Mid-American, Horizon and many others.
“They plan to further develop me as a big wing player. I think seeing that they were a highly competitive team really was big for me because I always want to play with and against the best of the best so I felt as though it was a good opportunity for me.”
“I feel like I bring some toughness, grit and am highly competitive for the next level and I’m super excited.”
