Kent State men’s basketball fans will get a treat on Friday night as Rob Senderoff and his staff will peel back the inside of the program, and discuss how the summer has been going so far with several newcomers, Team 109 and all things men’s basketball at North Water Brewing Company at 101 Crain Avenue in Kent for the second annual Hoops’ n Hops get together.
The event will take place right after Kent State’s alumni basketball game, slated for 4pm in the MAC Center. During a time where it’s hard to find out the goings on with the men’s basketball program other than the Golden Flash Report, hearing directly from Coach Senderoff and his staff is a great, unique opportunity for fans.
Senderoff is looking forward to another great event this Friday for the Blue & Gold adoring fans of the program.
“This will be the second year that we do a summer basketball event for fans and donors. We had a great turnout last summer and hope we do again this Friday.”
The 2024-2025 team returns veterans Von Cameron Davis, Cli’Ron Hornbeak and Mike Bekelja along with returning players Brenden Moss, Rico Gillespie, Magnus Entemann and Donovan Hunter. Several newcomers figure to be key pieces of the rotation this year. Morgan Safford (Miami OH), Cian Medley (St. Louis , Jamal Sumlin (NW Florida JC) and Marquis Barnett (Presybterian College) all figure to be key components of a revamped Flashes backcourt that should be physical and defensive minded.. Anthony Morales is a multifaceted player at 6-8 who can shoot from the perimeter and defend multiple positions (Boston U.) True freshmen Jonas Nichols (Hoban) and DeAndre Jones (Garfield Heights) are two highly touted players from perennial powerhouse local programs. Six seniors (Davis, Hornbeak, Bekelja, Barnett, Safford, Morales) make for an older team that is hopefully high on leadership and competitive urgency.
Senderoff and staff are looking forward to talking about the group Friday night. “My staff will be there and I will show some video on our summer workouts and our team for the 2024-2025 season,” Senderoff said. “The event will take place after the alumni game so a few former players may attend as well. I’m excited about our team, so I look forward to being able to ‘introduce’ them to some of our fans.”
