The KentGRIT era continued to ride the momentum and the lightning of their recruiting visits last weekend that saw the Flashes land six commits, to give them ten total for the class of 2025.
Kaden “Escalade” Mayle committed Tuesday and is the first offensive linemen for the class. Mayle is a massive talent from Fremont Ross High School at 6-6, 287 pounds.
Mayle as a junior at Fremont Ross, allowed 0 sacks. He also carries a 3.5 GPA. Mayle chooses the Flashes over offers from Toledo, Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Western Michigan.
“I chose Kent State because of Coach Burns and his vision of success for this program,” Mayle said. Alongside him, Coach Limegrover is a well experienced and humble offensive line coach that can help me fine tune my skills in order to become the best version of myself not only as a football player but as a young man. The G.R.I.T. mentality that Coach Burns has implemented drives me, and I’m excited to embody it.”
DJ Kelly also committed Tuesday evening. A 6-1, 175-pound athlete, Kelly projects as a defensive back for the Flashes. Kelly commits to the Flashes over several offers, including Buffalo, UCONN, Maryland, UMASS, Miami (OH), Temple, Troy, UNLV and Syracuse. Kelly is a product of Saint Frances Academy in Maryland.
“Kent State is where home felt,” said Kelly. “Not only for me but for my family also. The love that I got from Kent State is unmatched. Finally, being around the staff and up on campus only confirmed that Kent State was home away from home.”
Kent State now has commitments from 12 student athletes in the class of 2025.
